The first layer is the chickens. I place an inverted mask around the chickens witha soft glow effect. The second layer is the writing. I placed a mask in the middle to allow the chickens to appear from behind. I also placed a mask around the edge to create a border. This second layer has an opacity of 65 %. The third layer is the hand and the fourth layer is a gradient mask over the entire piece.

First I found images of a 'dandy', a lion, and a field. I used the pen tool to outline the lion's head and then I made a quick mask of the selection. I smudged the outline of the mask to keep the hairiness of the lion. I used the burn tool for shading. Next I used the pen tool to outline the body and again made a quick mask of the selection, and put the field behind the body. I added a few gradient adjustment layers for color and a few textures on top as well.
